Is this a piece of clever sponsorship by Nintendo?  As the original series of Gladiators peaked at over 19 mllion viewers!  Or are they hedging their bets?

Or have Nintendo agreed a deal to develop a Gladiators game exculsively for the Wii?  Just speculation, but if it’s true, you’ve heard it here first!!

The actual show was not bad, maybe not as exciting as the original, but as I was a lot younger when that was premiered in the early 90’s, that may be why!!

At the moment only Amazon.co.uk are taking pre orders.  And that is only for the game itself.

Pre-orders are being taken for the Xbox 360 version, which is released on 23rd may 2008.  The chat on the net though, is that it is amazingly overpriced here in the UK.  This is compared to the package that has been available in the USA for a number of months now.

The Xbox 360 UK version total price (recommended retail price(RRP)) would be £180.  The USA version total price was $180, which is approx £90.  That is £90 more, or double the price!!!  Amazon.co.uk has knocked some money off the RRP, so it’ll set you back £140.  But, the USA version is $148 on Amazon.com with the discounts that they give.  No justice!

Granted, some people will say that the price we’ll pay for the game + accessories are worth it.  Especially for such a revolutionary game.  But isn’t this just a case of the UK being ripped-off again?

You have to buy the accessories separately, rather than one big package.  Whereas in the states, it was all available as one big package.

As soon as the Wii version has been properly finalized for pre order I’ll post the links on here.  What price it’ll be, we’ll just have to wait and see!!

As expected Wii Fit has sold out all of the retailers in the UK…..

Nintendo always seem to have problems with stock of Wii hardware. Especially here in the UK!

So, I’ve been thinking a bit out of the box and tested out a few “old tricks” that I’ve used before.

What I’m talking about is ordering a Wi Fit from stockists in Europe. The obvious retailer is Amazon.de, the German version of Amazon. I previously blogged about ordering the Wii Console from Amazon.de which helped a multitude of people to get a Wii for Christmas last year. Until Amazon.de stopped shipping the Wii’s to the UK.

I’ve checked, by ordering one myself, and Amazon.de is allowing stock of Wii Fit to be delivered to the UK. They don’t have any stock available for immediate delivery, but it says that it is due for delivery on 3rd May 2008. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather wait a week, than pay stupid prices from Ebay (Just looked and there is a BuyIt Now on for £140!!!).

I paid €94.88 including delivery and tax, which works out at approx £75.

Open up the google translator in another window by clicking here, this helps to copy and paste any german.

Your Amazon.co.uk user name and password will work, so Amazon.de will recognise your billing and delivery address. If you don’t have one, then I would suggest doing this on the Amazon.co.uk site to avoid having to translate everything from German.

Now follow these steps which will hopefully help you (I’ve used the same pictures that I used for the Wii Console guide, so it may look slightly different)…

1. Go to the order page that you’ve already opened or click here to go straight there. You first need to put a Wii Fit into your basket, so click the “In den Einkaufswagen” yellow box as shown below in the screen shot.

2. This takes you straight to your basket so you now need to checkout so click the next yellow box “Zur Kasse gehen”.

3. Now you need to enter your email address and your Amazon.co.uk password. Then press the next yellow button on the page. As shown in the picture below.

4. Now you need to fill in your delivery address, or choose one that you already have saved in Amazon.co.uk account. Once you’ve filled it in press the yellow button again.

5. Now for the payment. To do this enter you credit card details in the boxes as shown below. I think they only accept Visa or Mastercard.

6. Last stage now, which is just to review the details that you filled in. If you are happy with it then click the next yellow button which says “Bestelleng Abschicken”. And that’s it!!

And that’s it people, good luck and well done for not having to pay ridiculous prices from Ebay.co.uk.

If Amazon.de sell out I’ll have a look at some other retailers in Europe that I’ve previously recommended!!

But, with Mario Kart being the fastest selling game for the Wii in the UK ever, and is probably going to sell out soon too!!!  It’s well worth it.

It used to take up hours of my time racing my pals.

I can still remember the day when I perfected the power start.  And when I was begging my parents to buy it for me on the 64!!!

I used to love the battle mode more than the racing!!  Firing red shells at each other, and laying the green shells all over the place!!!

Well…  Reminiscing has been great, but we must look to the future!

And the future is certainly Mario Kart Wii!!  This game is going to be the “mutts nuts”, it’ll be “different gravy”, it’ll be ”a cut above”…¦(Insert your own phrase here)

It is due to be released here in the UK (and the rest of Europe) on April 11th 2008.  1 day later than the launch in Japan.  The release dates for the Australia and North America are 24th & 27th April respectively.

What’s going to be so special about it then?

• The Wii Remote is going to fit inside a custom built steering wheel
• The game will be launched with the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Service.  This will enable online racing and battle modes, worldwide leaderboards for online leagues.
• Nintendo UK have announced that there will be an online text chat between players
• The reviews by the major gaming magazines have also been unreal…

There are only a few online retailers currently taking pre-orders these are in the table below.  Interestingly game.co.uk are also selling the game bundled together with a Wii remote.

I’ve heard the hype, I’ve previously blogged about the hype, so I wanted to see the hype for myself.

As the game has been out in Japan for well over 3 months now there are plenty of Youtube videos to see. As an alternative though, I saw a podcast from Stuff.tv magazine. (I’ve recently bought an itouch so I was searching for video podcasts on itunes!!)

A podcast from Stuff.tv tests the latest gadgets and gizmos, and last week they did an 8-10 minute video podcast all about Wii Fit.

The 2 reviewers/testers are quite annoying! In fact very annoying! But I digress….

The game itself looks pretty awesome. They tested the press-up challenge, yoga exercises, balance beam stuff and many more….

The Wii Balance board seems like it does a pretty amazing job, but the proof is definitely in the pudding. So when I get one, I’l leave an update comment on this post.

Wii Fit is currently only able for pre-order. I’ve got my name down at Game.co.uk, as they have consistently been good at fulfilling pre-orders (read some of my previous posts about my initial Wii pre-order from PC World for a laugh if you like :)!!!)
