Michael Ephraim, Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment Australia gave an interview with The Age recently. The interview was there to discuss “the success of PS2, the prospects for Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360 this Christmas, the PlayStation 3 delay, PSP’s fortunes and Sony’s recent PR disasters.”
He stated in the interview that “My only question for this Christmas on Wii is the price point. He went on to say that the Wii is “a lot to fork out” at it’s expected launch price in Australia at “(AU)$400 (approx £160) plus whatever you need to buy accessories-wise”.
In my opinion the guy has got a lot of cheek. When the PS3 is finally realeased in the UK it is expected to be over £400!!!!!!!
He was complimentary about Nintendo and its Wii console however, “Nintendo is a great company as far as games development goes, they have been around for a long time, they know how to deliver an entertaining product.”
Ephraim went on to say “we welcome the Nintendo heritage of gaming where they can appeal to a broader audience because long-term that is critical for the industry.”
